Penn State’s Office of Engineering Diversity provides various enrichment opportunities to students who are underrepresented in the engineering profession. We are comprised of two award-winning programs: the Multicultural Engineering Program (MEP) and the Women in Engineering Program (WEP). Our mission is to improve the recruitment and retention of underrepresented multicultural groups and women who are pursuing a degree in engineering. We provide a number of first-year experiences, academic enhancement, recruitment and outreach, and professional development programs and activities; to actively promote an equitable and productive learning and work environment within the College of Engineering.
Annually, we facilitate approximately 15-20 programs that are focused on our mission. The total budget for these program can run upwards of $500,000. 95% of our funding from these programs comes from outside sources. If you are interested in supporting our programs please contact Dr. Amy Freeman, Assistant Dean of Engineering Diversity.
