WEPO Rover

The Rover position is an outstanding opportunity for any second-year woman engineering student interested in gaining leadership skills and enhancing her marketability. WEPO Rovers represent Penn State. She acts as the “go-to woman” and conveys information to new students and their families about Penn State, WEP programs, and university services. A Rover assists with all orientation events and plays a vital role in facilitating the adjustment of new women engineering students to the campus and to the Penn State community.


  • Arrive one day pre-WEPO, for training
  • Facilitate the following activities:
    • Directory Photo Station for “WEPO-teers” and luggage ID station
    • All snack/beverage organization and distribution during Orientation program
    • Create and perform “Rover Skit” at closing WEPO program
    • Final Day luggage organization, loading and delivery
    • Create and disseminate a WEPO ’15 Pictorial Directory Optional early move-in to campus dorms
  • Assist Design Activity Leader in preparation of design activities and materials
  • Assist Computer Activity Leader in computer workshop activities
  • Assist “Spirit” Activity Leader in execution of scavenger hunt activities
  • Be accountable to the WEPO Lead Rover at all times during orientation
  • Serve as a WEP staff member during orientation
  • Reside in the hotel with staff, mentors and students during 3-day orientation
  • Participate in all orientation activities
  • Attend monthly WEP meetings throughout the academic year


  • Orientation program lodging provided during WEPO training meeting and 3-day orientation in a room with 3 other Rovers
  • All meals and snacks provided during pre-orientation meeting and orientation
  • Optional early move-in to campus dorms
  • Two WEPO T-shirts and WEP polo shirt
